Two-time Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay begins his second quest for a World Series when he gets the Game 1 start for the Philadelphia Phillies against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park at 5:07pm ET on Saturday afternoon.

In his second season with the Phillies, Halladay was the star of a rotation billed as the "Four Aces", posting a 19-6 record with a 2.35 E.R.A. and 220 strikeouts in 233 innings pitched. Halladay ranked in the Top 5 in the National League in every major statistical category, leading the NL for a second consecutive season with eight complete games.

The Cardinals enter the post-season red-hot, going 23-8 down the stretch and capitalizing on an epic collapse by the Atlanta Braves, who had a 10.5-game lead over the Cardinals on August 25. St. Louis had their ticket to the post-season punched when the Phillies swept the Braves in the final three games of the regular season. Veteran starter Kyle Lohse will get the first opportunity to thank the Phillies for their post-season appearance. Lohse, who pitched for the Phillies in 2007, posted 14 wins in 2011, leading a quintet of Cardinals pitchers to record double-digit wins this season.

St. Louis won six of the nine regular season games, including four of the five games in Philadelphia. The Cardinals took three-out-of-four from the Phillies in Citizens Bank Park in mid-September.
