One game in the 2011 postseason has already been suspended by rain. That must have made MLB so worried about rain delays that they postponed another game four hours before game time; it didn't rain at all at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, during the time that game was to be played.
Now, bad weather has already either arrived or is forecast for both league championship series sites, Detroit and St. Louis. Here is what the Detroit-area radar looked like at 1:15 p.m. ET:k

That's a still image, and you might think that because weather generally moves from west to east, that it would be clearing out. Not so this time; this rain shield is moving from south to north, with a slight westerly component. Thus it may well be raining in Detroit for several hours; the game, scheduled for 4:19 p.m. Eastern, could be delayed or postponed. There are a few breaks south of the shield; the teams and MLB will hope for those breaks to arrive by game time.
It's not currently raining in St. Louis, though Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweeted earlier this morning:
#MLB Raining hard in St. Louis. The #NLCS game could be called
The National Weather Service's St. Louis forecast for this evening doesn't look very good:
Tonight: Occasional showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Low around 58. South wind around 6 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
I presume MLB will be watching radars and if they think there's any chance that tonight's Brewers/Cardinals game would be delayed, they'd probably just postpone it. Suspending games, though it appears fair to both teams, wreaks havoc on pitching rotations, as we saw during the Tigers/Yankees series.
