2011 World Series Game 5: Time, TV Schedule And More

Stay connected for news and updates

One of the teams in the World Series will take a three games to two lead after Monday night's game. Will it be the Cardinals or the Rangers?

On paper -- that is, if you still use paper for anything -- this would appear to be a mismatch, at least if you look at the postseason numbers for the starters in tonight's Game 5 of the 2011 World Series.

St. Louis' Chris Carpenter has been outstanding; he threw a complete-game shutout to win the division series against the Phillies and the Cardinals have won all four games he's started, including the first game of the World Series.

He'll match up against the Rangers' Game 1 starter, C.J. Wilson, whose postseason performance can only be described as "awful", after a solid regular season. The Rangers did manage to win Game 1 of the ALCS, but that can hardly be said to be "behind" Wilson, who didn't make it out of the fifth inning of that rain-delayed game.

Nevertheless, they don't play the games on paper. Wilson has had good games and Carpenter bad ones; it could work out that way tonight. Or not. Tune in and see who takes a three games to two lead.

Start time: 8:05 p.m. EDT

TV Coverage: FOX

Projected starters and their postseason stats:

Cardinals: Chris Carpenter (3-0, 3.52 in four starts)

Rangers: C.J. Wilson (0-3, 7.17 in four starts)
