Baltimore Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail has reportedly been relieved of his duties.

The Baltimore Orioles have relieved Andy MacPhail, who held the President of Baseball Operations position, of his duties, according to a report on Friday evening. McPhail had presided over the baseball side of the Orioles organization since 2007, when he was hired by Peter Angeles.

Ken Rosenthal had the report, as well as a bit more news on the direction of the franchise.

The Orioles finished the 2011 season with a 69-93 record, good for last-place in the AL East by a large margin. Baltimore has tallied 90-plus losses in each of the four full season MacPhail has been at the helm, bringing up the rear in the always-competitive AL East.

It's unclear who Baltimore will bring in to fill MacPhail's role, or if this is the first of many moves to come. We'll be back with more as it becomes available.
