The Rangers will try to take care of their home field Sunday behind the arm of young lefty Derek Holland. The Tigers will try to even up the ALCS for the trip north to Detroit.
After a twice-delayed win in Game 1, the Texas Rangers will try to extend their series lead to 2-0 over the Detroit Tigers Sunday night. Riding the bat of Nelson Cruz and the arms of perhaps the deepest bullpen left in the playoffs, the Rangers simply would not allow the Tigers to overcome a fifth-inning 3-2 margin. That score would be the final.
In Game 2, the Rangers roll out another pitcher who's been impressive much of the season in Derek Holland, who won 16 games and tied for the AL lead with four shutouts. He also proudly sports perhaps the ugliest moustache this side of Sidney Crosby. He will toe the rubber against Max Scherzer, who should be brimming with confidence after dominating the Yankees in a start and a relief appearance in the ALDS.
Game Date/Time: Sunday, Oct. 9, 7:45 p.m.
Stadium: Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Artlington, Texas
TV: FOX
Projected Starters
Detroit Tigers: Max Scherzer (15-9, 4.43 ERA)
