Who's currently a major-league free agent? Where are the signed free agents going to play next season? We've got your details, updating as necessary.
Hello there, and welcome to Baseball Nation's 2011-2012 MLB Free Agent Tracker. If you're reading this, it's because you're wondering about the current free agent market, or because you accidentally clicked on the really annoying Baseball Nation 2011-2012 MLB Free Agent Tracker pop-up window that I've been promised the tech guys are going to implement. Traffic, so much traffic!
Below, you will find a simple, sortable table. The table includes the names of all the major league free agents, or at least almost all of them. (If we've left any out, please let us know.) The table also includes each free agent's position or positions, and, if the free agent has signed, contract details and a link to further coverage. The links in the player names will send you to stats and coverage. We've tried hard to make the positions accurate, but that's complicated by the fact that a lot of guys play in more than one place. So.
Note that, in addition to major league free agents, there are also minor league free agents. Baseball America has a super awesome minor league free agent tracker for you to mess around with at your leisure. We, uh, won't try to compete with that.
So, off we go. We will update this tracker as news happens. Click column headers to sort, and a * after the team indicates the player has re-signed with his last 2011 club.
