Jonathan Broxton's Still The Closer After All

Stay connected for news and updates

Why can’t these guys get their story straight? First Ned Colletti tells the media the Dodgers are going with a closer-by-committee approach. And now, according to Dodgers beat writer Dylan Hernandez, Don Mattingly has other ideas:

Broxton heard TV analysts say Dodgers would go to closer by committee. Mattingly called him into his office to clarify that wasn’t case.

This could mean a lot of things. It could mean that Colletti was misunderstood. It could mean that Broxton misunderstood Mattingly. It could mean that Colletti and Mattingly have different ideas about things. It could mean that everyone’s waiting for guidance from Commissioner Bud.

It definitely means that you probably shouldn’t rush to grab Vicente Padilla off your fantasy league’s waiver wire, because it sounds like he won’t be getting many save chances anytime soon.

But whatever Mattingly has in mind, things have to change if Broxton blows another couple of saves anytime soon.
