With the Yankees reeling, a minor lineup- and roster-shakeup shouldn't be surprising, and Tuesday night there's some in-with-the-old and in-with-the-new, as Jorge Posada's back in the lineup -- and batting seventh, not ninth -- while Nick Swisher's getting the night off. Who's batting ninth for the Yanks at Tropicana Field? Chris Dickerson.

The Yankees recalled Dickerson from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre today, and he's starting in right field tonight against Tampa Bay right-handed starter James Shields.

Posada's hitless against left-handers this season season, but his .212/.302/.447 line against righties includes some walks and some pop. Meanwhile, the veteran Dickerson wasn't actually hitting much with Scranton, and his promotion smacks of mild desperation. But Swisher's been slumping and he's batting .163 against right-handed pitching this season and the Yankees have been operating with a tiny bench. Which at least begins to explain why Dickerson is donning the pinstripes for the first time.
