After Doug Davis's brilliant outing for the Cubs Friday afternoon, we're informed by Len Kasper that the three pitchers who have subbed for the injured Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner -- the trio of Casey Coleman, James Russell, and lately Davis -- have combined to go 2-11 with an 8.04 ERA in 16 starts.
The Cubs entered today's action with a 22-26 record. With just decent pitching from those two slots, they would have a winning record and probably be in second place.
Hey, no worries. Wells is coming back tomorrow and Rodrigo Lopez is right around the corner ...
Correction: Numbers above include only Davis's first four innings today.
