In what is surely the most exciting thing to happen to Minnesota fans in hundreds of minutes, the Minnesota Twins are calling up outfield prospect Ben Revere. The move comes as outfielder Jason Repko goes on the disabled list with a left quad injury.
John Sickels has a Ben Revere scouting report in which he lauds the outfielder's speed, but notes his Juan Pierre-like lack of power.
This is Revere's second time in the majors. He received a September call-up last year and hit .179/233/179 in 28 at-bats. It's not clear how much he'll play, as he's replacing a reserve outfielder, but with the surprise revelation that the Twins are willing to try Michael Cuddyer at second base, there's a chance for playing time in the outfield even after Delmon Young returns from the disabled list.
Repko had five hits in 29 at-bats to start the 2011.
