Saturday, Rangers lefty Matt Harrison spun six scoreless innings against the Royals and earned the win in a blowout. But at what cost, you ask? Some cost. Writes Jeff Wilson:
Left-hander Matt Harrison said that he won't start Thursday at Cleveland after the blister on his left index finger didn't respond well after he threw catch today. Long reliever Dave Bush will make his third spot start of the year.
Harrison developed a blister, and though there was some initial optimism that it would heal and/or not affect his throwing, it has not healed and does continue to affect his throwing, so Harrison will be skipped. Better to let these things go away than to try to push through them.
In Harrison's place, Dave Bush will start, even though the day before Harrison's most recent appearance, Bush allowed three home runs in an inning of relief. One should never judge a pitcher based on one single inning of relief, and Bush has pitched decently well in his limited action, but, man, that was one bad inning. Did you see that inning?
Harrison is not expected to visit the disabled list.
