Alberto Callaspo Injury: Angels 3B Pulls Hamstring

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Angels beat the Kansas City Royals 7-5, which was great news for them, since it was their first win since Friday, June 3. However, it wasn't all peaches - in the bottom of the seventh inning, third baseman Alberto Callaspo pulled his hamstring as the back end of a double-steal, and had to come out.

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo left Saturday night's game with the Kansas City Royals in the seventh inning after pulling his left hamstring stealing second base.

At this point, the severity of the injury is unknown, and Callaspo may or may not need to go on the disabled list. He is, however, unlikely to play on Sunday.

If Callaspo does go on the DL, the Angels would presumably recall Alexi Amarista, who has spent time in the Majors already this season. Maicer Izturis would then shift over to third.

As Callaspo owns the third-highest OBP on the team, and as the Angels are a team that has struggled to score runs, it would be a blow if he had to miss a couple weeks. It does help, though, that Izturis is a very capable stopgap.
