Should MLB Realign? And If So, How?

Stay connected for news and updates

It was reported Saturday that MLB is considering realignment to 15-team leagues, shifting one NL team to the AL and also possibly having single leagues with no divisions, with the top five in each league making the playoffs.

But this would make things unwieldy; it would also mean that teams could finish as many as 10 places below the last playoff spot, meaning for some, playoff contention could seem very far away.

Some have even proposed that MLB expand by two teams; this would allow a realignment to an NFL-type division setup, with eight divisions of four teams each. But with economic conditions the way they are, is expansion even in the cards?

Maybe you're a traditionalist and like baseball's current messy setup, with unequal division sizes and teams staying in the leagues they've been in for decades (we'll leave the Brewers, who switched leagues in 1998, out of this discussion for now).
