Barring a setback in the next 48 hours, Joe Mauer will be back in the Minnesota Twins' lineup on Friday night.
The team confirmed Mauer's return late Wednesday afternoon, hours after the All-Star catcher took batting practice against deposed closer Joe Nathan in Fort Myers, Fla., and declared his lengthy rehabilitation complete.
Just a little refresher ... Joe Mauer is a baseball catcher and plays for a team called the Minnesota Twins. Some time ago, he was considered one of the best baseball catchers in baseball, but then -- and again, this was ages ago -- he tried to play but couldn't play well and nobody was quite sure why.
Anyway, he's coming back now and pretty soon people will remember him again. This season, the Twins' catchers have batted .183/.074/-.648, which could have been worse, technically speaking, but was pretty terrible, realistically speaking.
So this is definitely a good thing for the last-place Minnesota Twins. Now, about this baseball first baseman named Justin Morneau who used to play for the Minnesota Twins ...
