Dodgers Celebrate Rubby Tuesday

Rubby De La Rosa is a 22-year-old righthander for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Called up last month, he has made three relief appearances. Tonight, he will make his first major league start against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

"Rubby" is, in fact, his real given name. And so, there is no more appropriate day of the week for him to make his first MLB start. (In fact, two of his three relief appearances have come on Tuesdays.) With many apologies to Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, we present "Rubby Tuesday" ...

He would never say where he came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright or in the darkest night
He'll pitch today
(He came from Double A)
Good ol' Rubby Tuesday, please don't hang no sliders today
When you make the start tonight
Hope the hitters miss you

Don't question why he needs to face Philly
He'll tell you it's the only way to be
He's just chained to a team
Where nothing's gained and nothing's lost at such a cost
Good ol' Rubby Tuesday, who did hang this name on you?
When you start with every fifth day
Still the hitters miss you

There's no game to lose I heard him say
Catch it, Kemp, before it slips away
Losing all the time
Lose this game and you will lose your mind
Ain't baseball unkind
Good ol' Rubby Tuesday, who did hang this name on you?
You'll go out there every fifth day
Batters swing and miss you
Good ol' Rubby Tuesday, please do hang a loss on the Phils
If your change gets across the plate
Those hitters will miss it

"Roy Oswalt", you don't stand a chance.
