Miguel Tejada Injury: Ab Strain Sends Giants Shortstop To Disabled List

San Francisco Giants shortstop Miguel Tejada started the season off very, very slowly. On a Giants team that was willing to sacrifice defense for offense, Tejada was sacrificing both. But just as he was starting to heat up a little -- no, really, he's been okay over the last month-and-a-half -- he was put on the disabled list with a lower ab strain according to MLB.com.

Tejada injured himself on a grounder to his right in Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ball kicked off the heel of his glove, as it is often wont to do, and when he retrieved the ball, he tweaked his side.

To add a little intrigue to the situation, Henry Schulman from the Chronicle has an interesting tidbit:

Tejada to the DL (not his choice, I hear).

Wonder if he was given the roster equivalent of an "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" stairs-or-window choice. The Giants traded for infielder Jeff Keppinger today, and with Mike Fontenot healthy and Brandon Crawford a plus-defender, it already looked as if Tejada's at-bats were about to decrease by quite a bit before the injury.
