Sometimes a scare is just a scare, which seems to be the case with Orlando Hudson's game-ending -- but maybe that's all -- injury today.
In the seventh inning of the Padres' rain-delayed, Thursday afternoon game against the Marlins, Hudson took a header into the wall while making a spectacular catch of Omar Infante's foul pop-up. Hudson remained on the ground for some time before finally being placed on a back-board and carted off the field. At the time, one couldn't help speculate about a concussion, or perhaps a neck or back injury.
Well, all seems to be well. Per this tweet from FollowThePadres:
Hudson is doing good. Like he wasn't hurt at all. To hospital for precautionary check-up. Will join team tonight or Friday in PHL.
He might not play against the Phillies Friday night, but it sure sounds like Hudson will avoid his third DL stint this season. Which would be a bit of good news in a Padres season that's been mostly bad news.
