Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez suffered through a miserable start to 2011 and an injury to his wrist, but he emerged to hit as well as expected after April ended. He injured his wrist on July 3rd after crashing into the outfield wall, but he never went on the disabled list.
Gonzalez admitted that his wrist is still bothering him in a Denver Post article, and things got worse Thursday afternoon in the Rockies' game against the Braves. From Tracy Ringolsby :
Carlos Gonzalez aggravated right wrist that sidelined him for a week. Had to come out mid at-bat in 5th inning Thursday. Reason for concern.
Other reports had Gonzalez in significant pain after his swing on a 1-1 pitch. He was fortunate enough to avoid the disabled list in the first place, but considering that the injury never fully healed, there's a decent chance he'll end up on the DL after all. Before Thursday afternoon's game ended, Gonzalez was taken to the hospital for an MRI on his wrist.
Also of note: I would have made a .gif of the swing that bit him, but MLB NexDef is coded by drunken orangutans.
