What Is Alex Anthopoulos Talking About?

Alex Anthopoulos addresses the Blue Jays' sign-stealing hubbub:

I don't think it's too hard to find a former coach, a former player, a former front office executive, a former clubhouse guy, a former field guy, not one person. Instead, let's find four players on some other team...

It's more than four players, and Joe Girardi. Regardless, why are any of them less credible than some notional disgruntled ex-employee?

... claimin' that they saw the guy in the white shirt, and they saw the UFO flyin' across the sky...

Hey! Look over here at my non sequitur! He's comparing these allegations from multiple sources, which are backed by statistical evidence (evidence, not proof!), to people who make up stories about flying saucers. If I'm ever accused of something and have to appear on TV to explain myself, I hope my misdirections are more artful.

I understand it's part of today's generation, if there’s allegations, accusations, all that stuff, it's fine.

Oooh, I hate today's generation, with their rap music and aversion to cheating.

Before Anthopoulos' press conference, I thought there was a 40 percent chance that the story was true, that the Blue Jays relayed signs to their hitters from the center field stands in 2010. Now, I'm about 50-50.

Memo to the Jays' owners: maybe keep Alex Anthopoulos away from the cameras until this thing dies down.
