Ernie Johnson Has Passed Away

It was just announced on the Braves broadcast that Ernie Johnson Sr. – former player, and long-time Braves broadcaster – has died at the age of 87. After long fighting an illness, he passed away with his wife and family by his side.

Johnson was elected to the Braves Hall of Fame in 2001, and was the father of broadcaster Ernie Johnson Jr., with whom he worked for four years in the 90s. Johnson was an icon and will, very obviously, be missed.
