In Derrek Lee's post-deadline Pittsburgh Pirates debut, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs. Then the Pirates tanked, and Lee wound up being held out of the lineup with "hand problems," and on Saturday, the Pirates placed Lee on the disabled list. Rob Biertempfel:

Making a bad situation even worse, I suppose. The Pirates are no longer relevant as far as 2011 is concerned, as they dropped out of the race with astonishing haste, but now they're a struggling team who's without a decent hitter for the better part of a month. It's worth noting that Lee has a fractured bone in his left wrist. In the past, he's had problems with his right wrist.
To take Lee's place on the roster, the Pirates recalled Josh Harrison, who owns a .576 OPS. But he posted an .826 OPS in triple-A, so, who knows? He's unlikely to play much, with Garrett Jones taking over at first and Pedro Alvarez playing at third.
