Cole Hamels Injury: Shoulder Inflammation Sends Phillies Lefty To DL

Just as the Philadelphia Phillies seemed to get the real Roy Oswalt back -- the right-hander was winging 93-mph fastballs into the eighth inning of his last start -- they lose one of the world's best pitchers to a shoulder injury. No, not that one. Not that one, either. Rather, Cole Hamels is the latest victim of the Phillies' injury bug. From Todd Zolecki:

Hamels' injury is with his left shoulder and it isn't supposed to be serious, as an MRI showed only simple inflammation. Kyle Kendrick will likely fill Hamels' rotation slot, with Scott Mathieson waiting in the wings.
