Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz strained his left hamstring on Sunday while rounding first base. This is different from the time he strained his right hamstring while fielding a fly ball. It's also different from the time he strained his left hamstring while rounding second base, which is completely separate from the time he strained his right hamstring while favoring his left hamstring as he rounded third base.
In order to reconcile certain paradoxes in theoretical physics, scientists have postulated the existence of a "middle hamstring" that exists only in a quantum superposition. In other news, Nelson Cruz has strained his middle hamstring.
Yes, Nelson Cruz strains hamstrings. That's what he does. Well, that and hit, but it looks like the Rangers will be without his bat for a while. From ESPN Dallas/Ft. Worth:
Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz is expected to miss three weeks after an MRI on Monday revealed a Grade I strain of his left hamstring.Cruz will receive a PRP injection from Rangers physician Dr. Keith Meister to stimulate the healing process.
The move will leave the Rangers short one outfielder, and according to the Dallas Morning News, the team will likely make do with someone from within the organization:
``We're waiting on Nellie's MRI before we do anything,'' general manager Jon Daniels said on Monday morning. ``But more than likely, any moves we make will be from inside the organization."That would mean using a combination of three outfielders -- Endy Chavez, Craig Gentry and David Murphy -- for two spots to go with Josh Hamilton.
There's a chance that the Rangers could pull a waiver deal to fill the need. There's also a chance that Cruz's hamstrings could turn into a fog and leak out his nose. Stay tuned.
