The Amazing Tripling Molinas

Stay connected for news and updates

The Blue Jays' Jose Molina tripled in the 11th inning in Tampa Thursday afternoon.

This is newsworthy because it is his first triple since 2004, and only his third career triple in 1903 plate appearances. All three of Jose's three-baggers have been witnessed by Joe Maddon, who was an Angels coach in 2004, when Jose hit the other two.

Jose's brother Bengie, perhaps the slowest player in recent baseball history, hit five triples after Jose hit his pair in 2004. He's the all-time leader among the Molina brothers with six. Brother Yadier, with the Cardinals, matches Jose with three.
