On the day that Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to return from Tommy John surgery, another pitcher is scheduled for the procedure. Cleveland Indians staring pitcher Carlos Carrasco threw a quality start on August 3rd, allowing two runs on seven innings. Before his next start, though, he was put on the disabled list with elbow inflammation. The diagnosis looks to be complete, per Nick Camino of WTAM 1100:

Or it could be a little longer, of course, depending on how Carrasco responds to the surgery. The 24-year-old right-hander was one of the main chips in the deal that sent Cliff Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies before the 2009 trading deadline. Carrasco was having an erratic season that was a little disappointing after the fine work he did with the Indians in 2010, and it looks like he'll be back towards the end of 2012, if not the beginning of 2013.
