Troy Taormina-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Washington, D.C. will experience postseason baseball for the first time since 1933.
It will be one of the highlights for an historic 2012 for the Washington Nationals: The very first playoff game in the Nation's Capital since the franchise moved from Montreal in 2005. The Nats host the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLDS at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be carried by MLB Network.
The teams split the first two games at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The NL East champion Nationals used a late rally to top the defending World Champs in Game 1, but the Cardinals tied the series with a convincing 12-4 win in Game 2.
Edwin Jackson will start for Washington, pitching against the team he played for last season. He was 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA for the Nats this year. Chris Carpenter gets the ball for the Cardinals. The first inning of Game 3 will be just his 18th inning pitched all season, after a nerve problem kept him out most of the year.
