It wasn't raining in Detroit -- but heavy storms were on the way that might have delayed Game 4 of the ALCS between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees until late in the evening, or worse, had starting pitchers begin and then be lost to the teams after a rain delay.
And so, Major League Baseball made the only logical decision, shortly after 9:15 p.m. ET:
BREAKING: Tonight's #ALCS Game 4 between @yankees and @tigers has been postponed until tomorrow at 4 pm ET on @mlb_tbs.

It's presumed that Max Scherzer and CC Sabathia, the scheduled starting pitchers for Wednesday's game, will start Thursday afternoon for Game 4. The Tigers still have a chance to sweep the series and move on to the World Series with a win; the Yankees need to win four straight games to avoid elimination.
