Game 4 was originally scheduled for Wednesday night, but was postponed due to rain. The Detroit Tigers will now try to cap their series sweep of the New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon.

New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers, ALCS Game 4

When: Thursday, Oct 18 at 4:00 p.m. ET, on TBS

Probable pitchers: CC Sabathia vs. Max Scherzer

Game 4 was scheduled to be played on Wednesday night, but MLB decided to call the game before the first rain drops fell. Intense storms eventually did role through the Detroit area, which would have invariably led to significant rain delays if the game had been started.

Instead, the Tigers will attempt to finish off their sweep of the Yankees on Thursday afternoon. CC Sabathia and Max Scherzer will still take the mound when it finally gets going. The rain out does make things more difficult for the Yankees in particular, as it was presumed that Sabathia would start Game 4 and then likely start the potential Game 7 on three days rest. If the series does in fact go to seven games, the off day between Games 5 and 6 will be erased to make up for the rain out. If Game 7 does happen, Sabathia would only have two days rest, and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed the Yankees' ace would not be available.

Of course, the Tigers hope it doesn't come to that.
