Rick Sutcliffe, last seen derisively referring to "sabermetric geniuses" and calling for Melky Cabrera's deportation, might... hold on, I'm gonna need a minute here... oh, God... might be in line to replace Bob Brenly as the Cubs' TV color commentator. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Vorwald declined to speculate on potential candidates, though one is expected to be former Cubs pitcher Rick Sutcliffe, who works for ESPN and is covering the ALCS for MLB International.
Sutcliffe has been offered the job before and turned it down. Would he be interested if the Cubs called again?
"I don't know," he replied. "They came to me before Joe Carter got it, before Bob got it. They came to (my house in) Kansas City a couple of times. They know the route if they choose to go that way again. I don't know."
Pretty classy move on Sut's part to let Carter and Brenly know they were the Cubs' second choice.
"We don’t rule out anybody," Vorwald said. "We’ll start with a clean slate..."
Clean slate? Why would anybody need a -- oh, yeah.
