Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday was scratched from the Game 6 lineup due to back tightness.

The St. Louis Cardinals will attempt to close out the National League Championship Series in Game 6 Sunday night, but they will have to do it without outfielder Matt Holliday who was scratched from the starting lineup with back tightness.

Holliday dealt with lower back tightness late in the season and apparently re-injured his back during batting practice prior to Game 6. He cut his batting practice session short and was scratched from the lineup not long after. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Holliday fought to stay in the lineup and was "not very happy" with Matheny after being scratched.

With Holliday not in the starting lineup, Allen Craig will move from first base to left field while Matt Carpenter will come off the bench to start at first base. Holliday was originally scheduled to bat third, but Carlos Beltran will now slide into that spot in the lineup with Carpenter hitting second.

The updated Cardinals lineup can be found below:

CF - Jon Jay
1B - Matt Carpenter
RF - Carlos Beltran
LF - Allen Craig
C - Yadier Molina
3B - David Freese
2B - Daniel Descalso
SS - Pete Kozma
P - Chris Carpenter
