The San Francisco Giants have won five consecutive elimination games. That's tied for second-most in major-league history, and the all-time leader is... the Cardinals (tied with the Royals) with six. The Cardinals' record is active, from October 2011 through now.
So either the Giants tie the record in Game 7, or the Cardinals have it all to themselves. With that in mind, here is Giants manager Bruce Bochy's lineup for San Francisco (* indicates lefthanded hitter, # indicates switch-hitter):
1. Angel Pagan#, CF
2. Marco Scutaro, 2B
3. Pablo Sandoval#, 3B
4. Buster Posey, C
5. Hunter Pence, RF
6. Brandon Belt*, 1B
7. Gregor Blanco*, LF
8. Brandon Crawford*, SS
9. Matt Cain, P
The Giants will be facing Cardinals righthander Kyle Lohse, who stymied them in Game 3 when he allowed just one run in 5⅔ innings. The potential good news for the Giants is that they had seven hits and five walks off Lohse; the Giants left 11 men on base and were 0-for-7 with RISP. If they can repeat the performance and hit with runners on base, they'll have a very good chance of accomplishing something that's been done just once in MLB history -- come back and win three straight elimination games in two series in the same season (1985 Royals).
