Odds makers are saying the Detroit Tigers are favored to defeat the San Francisco Giants in the World Series.

The Detroit Tigers are World Series favorites as they open the series with the San Francisco Giants at -140, according to Oddshark.com. The Giants are currently the underdogs at +130. The most likely outcome of the series is a 4-1 win for the Tigers, as the odds are set at 13/4. Odds are the same that the Tigers will win in six games or the Giants will win in seven, as both results are currently at 9/2.

Miguel Cabrera is the odds-on favorite to win the series MVP at 5/1. He is followed by Justin Verlander at 6/1, Buster Posey at 13/2 and Prince Fielder at 8/1. Long shots include Andy Dirks at 30/1 and Alex Avila, Avisail Garcia, Brandon Crawford, Gregor Blanco and Omar Infante at 25/1.

The odds makers think it is going to be a long series, as the over is at -165 on 5½ games. The bet on the total number of games played in the series has six and seven both at +200. A five-game series is at +240, and a sweep is at +600.
