Lovullo was John Farrell's first base coach in Toronto.

After a week of murmurings about who new Red Sox manager John Farrell would bring with him from his Toronto coaching staff, Boston has officially named Torey Lovullo as its bench coach for the 2013 season, per CBS Sports.

Lovullo served as the first base coach in Toronto for both of Farrell's seasons at the helm, and was previously a part of the Red Sox organization as manager of their Triple-A squad in Pawtucket in 2010.

A former infielder with eight years of big-league experience, Lovullo has worked on the coaching side of things since 2001, when he worked as a roving coordinator for the Cleveland Indians. He later went on to receive consecutive manager of the year awards as skipper for the Kinston Indians and Akron Aeros.

Lovullo takes over at bench coach for Tim Bogar, who was at one point a frontrunner for the Astros' managing gig but now finds himself temporarily out of a job. More announcements on the remainder of the Red Sox coaching staff are expected soon.
