The American League playoffs needed the full 162-game season to decide the matchups and schedule, but after a wild Wednesday in baseball, we now know the who, when and where for (the remainder of) October in the AL.
The Oakland Athletics won the West in the afternoon, blitzing the Texas Rangers, 12-5, to complete their unbelievable comeback. Texas' consolation prize is a spot in the AL Wild Card Game, where they'll host the Orioles. Baltmore had to settle for the second wild card after falling to the Rays on Wednesday night, 4-1.
The Orioles' loss also secured the AL East title and No. 1 seed for the Yankees, who crushed the Red Sox in their final game. It's the Yankees' 13th division title in the past 17 years. `Baltimore's loss also means the Orioles will be the road team in the Wild Card Game on Friday.
All games will be televised on TBS.
