The Padres, to pick a team at random, played the Nationals in Washington on May 15, then few 2700 miles to play the Dodgers in San Diego the next day. The Padres won both games, incidentally.
After a five day homestand, they flew to St. Louis (~1800 miles) for three games, New York for four (950 miles), then Chicago (790 miles) for three. Then, finally, an off day before another homestand (2076 miles).
The Texas Rangers are one of several Wild Card teams in the MLB playoff tourney starting later today. They didn't play yesterday. They have a game tonight, at home, against Baltimore. If they win that game, they have another off day tomorrow, then two more home games before another off day.
This grueling travel schedule is their punishment for failing to win their division, you see.
All hail the benevolent commissioner!
