According to this story, Philip Roth has retired from writing. Roth wrote my favorite baseball book ever (and maybe my favorite book, period), The Great American Novel. It was the book that made me want to be a writer more than any other I can think of. So, if it were only for that, I'd say Roth has earned his retirement.
