After the huge Marlins/Jays trade, there was a race to see who could be more disgusted with Jeffrey Loria. This is because Loria is disgusting and frequently leaves people feeling disgusted. But who had the best description of him?
You can find good results for "horrible" and "Jeffrey Loria" on Twitter, and you can get results for "toad" and "Loria", too. If you want, you can also enter whatever naughty word enters your head and "Loria". No one is thinking about the poor guy named Dick Loria who just wants to search Twitter to see how people responded to his real estate seminar!
But in the pundit class, there were some good descriptions. Craig Calcaterra:
Jeff Loria and his cohorts are cynical liars who care nothing about baseball beyond the cash it allows them to extract from gullible fans, corrupt politicians, unwitting taxpayers and a complicit league office, all of which they have either explicitly called stupid or clearly assume to be based on their actions.
Yep, yep. That's a good one. The Broward New-Times?:
Jeffrey Loria is a crook, plain and simple.
Simple is good. Simple is good. But for my money, the best description comes from Keith Law:
Those limicolous owners are the greatest joke of all in this deal, rooking Florida taxpayers for a publicly funded stadium, only to make one half-hearted attempt to fill it with a contending team, then surrendering after the season to return to their old business model, playing a skeleton-crew lineup while pocketing all of their revenue-sharing money.
Why is it the best? Because my browser flags the word "limicolous" as misspelled. Loria is so heinous, you have to venture outside of the truncated online dictionary . It means "someone or something that dwells in mud." I would have gone with "losel" as my obscure insult, but Law's is much, much better.
Jeffrey Loria is limicolous, everyone. Everyone can get back to work. Show's over. The best description has been found.
