One of the great things about baseball is its continuity. Any modern baseball fan can look at this picture from the 1923 World Series and know immediately what's going on: A base runner is in a pickle and the defenders are lining up to ensnare him. In this case, that runner is Babe Ruth and almost all of his pursuers are in the Hall of Fame. Frankie Frisch, Dave Bancroft and George Kelly are. Pitcher Art Nehf isn't -- but umpire Billy Evans is.
