The prospects of trading Justin Upton may be alive and well again for the Diamondbacks.

That's what Jon Heyman of CBS Sports wonders after Arizona signed Cody Ross for $26 million and three years. Naturally, this brings a surplus of outfielders to Chase Field.

Ross is now joining Upton, Jason Kubel and Gerardo Parra. This means one of them could be expendable, certainly raising the attention among Major League front offices, prompting them to call the Diamondbacks and make their respective offers.

Heyman says Parra is unlikely to be dealt, since Arizona loves his defensive skills. Kubel is a logical candidate, but the Diamondbacks wouldn't get the same return they would demand in negotiating Upton.

Even though team owner Ken Kendrick likes Upton, and it would take a lot of persuasion for him to be willing to part ways with the 25-year-old outfielder, offers will come up. Upton is not a stranger to this situation, as he has been the subject of plenty of rumors throughout his career.
