Giancarlo Stanton's Knee Problems Lingering

Stay connected for news and updates

Giancarlo Stanton is one of the most exciting young players in recent memory, which is why the nation is devastated that he could miss Opening Day. Well, the nation should be. I'll bet the trending topics on Twitter are something about Beyonce or Adele right now, but there should really be something about Giancarlo Stanton's knee. The guy might miss Opening Day, people!

From the Palm Beach Post:

"It’s kind of tough to make sure your legs are in shape without being able to run."

Asked if he had a level of concern in terms of being ready April 4, Stanton said: "It’s a strong topic. Everybody needs at-bats…"

But Stanton is healthy enough to take batting practice every day, likely scaring the hell out of some poor older man whose life is being guaranteed by some wimpy mesh screen. And the most important part of the article might be with the reminder towards the end.

Last spring, he played in just six Grapefruit League games because of leg issues, going 7-for-18 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI.

He went on to lead to the Marlins with 34 home runs and 87 RBI.

Stanton will play through discomfort. Just not in the Grapefruit League. Makes sense. Get better, Giancarlo. The nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
