Winning Awards Is Hard: MVP Edition

Stay connected for news and updates

In Justin Verlander's first start this season, he pitched eight shutout innings but got a no-decision when Jose Valverde blew a save for the first time since 2010.

In Verlander's second start, Wednesday afternoon against the Rays, he entered the ninth with a one-hit shutout, but gave up two runs on his own and took the loss when Valverde let in two more.

So he's probably not going 24-5 again this year.
