What Vladimir Guerrero hasn't gotten over the past several months is a job from a Major League Baseball team. What he has gotten is a trip to a Dominican police station following a brawl at a discotheque in which Guerrero was allegedly involved. There were reports that Guerrero got into an altercation with an officer, which is pretty much always a no-no in any country.
But Guerrero, for his part, denied any involvement whatsoever. And Wednesday, we have news that he won't face any charges. AP:
Valdimir Guerrero's lawyer says no charges will be filed against the former major leaguer stemming from a disco brawl.
Authorities had claimed he attacked a police officer after the fighting broke out. Guerrero denied being involved and turned himself in early Tuesday.
Obviously, this is of no consequence when it comes to the current season. Guerrero doesn't have a job. But a free and not-imprisoned Guerrero is more likely to get a job in the coming months, and more than that, I don't think anybody wants to remember Vladimir Guerrero as a guy who went after a police officer. I think people want to remember Vladimir Guerrero as one of the more terrifying hitters they've ever seen. This is good news for Guerrero, and good news for Guerrero's image.
