It's been a long time since this StoryStream™ was updated with Stephen Drew news, primarily because there wasn't a lot of Stephen Drew news. The Diamondbacks' shortstop suffered a severe ankle injury last year on July 20, and he missed the rest of the season. Then he fell into a void, and we didn't hear about him again. Willie Bloomquist was involved.
But Drew never stopped rehabbing, and he's getting closer to a rehab assignment:
#Dbacks SS Stephen Drew was 1 for 4 in extended spring game, team says. Also played briefly in field. First game hacks since ankle injury.

Perhaps one of the more impressive things about the Diamondbacks' worst-to-first turnaround is that they did it without Drew, who was one of the team's most valuable players during the miserable 2010 season. In his place, the Diamondbacks have been playing Bloomquist and John McDonald, both of whom are clear downgrades to Drew, both offensively and defensively.
