It’s 2012, and that means we don’t have to rely just on baseball reporters or sources to get information from baseball players to the general public.
Jacoby Ellsbury is on Twitter, and Saturday morning he sent out this tweet about his shoulder injury:
Thx for all the well wishes. Subluxed my right shoulder in yesterday’s game. No timetable set, working hard to get back as soon as possible.

As noted late Friday, Ellsbury is expected to miss at least six weeks. Thus, the Red Sox will likely be seeking another outfielder, since they’re now down two starters with Carl Crawford also on the DL.
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal had a couple of outfield suggestions for Boston, including Scott Podsednik (currently at Triple-A in the Phillies organization) and Clete Thomas, recently DFA’d by the Tigers. The Cubs have also been shopping center fielder Marlon Byrd, who seems a good fit for the Red Sox.
