Stay connected for news and updates

Here's something that won't shock you to hear: Chris Young is on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Here's something that might shock you to hear: not that Chris Young. The other one, the one who hits fly balls and runs them down instead of allowing them by the boatload.

The Diamondbacks' Chris Young ran into the wall Tuesday night making a catch. The catch was successful, but Young stayed down on the ground, holding his shoulder. He was removed from the game and placed on the disabled list shortly thereafter, and now we have a full diagnosis of what's going on:

That slight ligament tear is scary, but it could be a lot scarier, and the fact that the Diamondbacks think Young might be available after the minimum amount of time is encouraging. This isn't a season-ender, based on what we know.

Problematic for the Diamondbacks is that Justin Upton is also currently banged up. Wednesday, Gerardo Parra started in left field, A.J. Pollock started in center field, and Jason Kubel started in right field. Wednesday, the Diamondbacks scored one run and lost.
