Cubs Still Searching For Elusive "8th Inning, 2 Outs" Pitcher

Stay connected for news and updates

In each of their first two games, the Cubs' bullpen blew the lead with 2 outs in the 8th inning.

I think I know what the problem is. See, Kerry Wood and Carlos Marmol are Proven Closers™, but it takes a certain kind of mental toughness to get the 24th out. It’s not like pitching the 9th inning, or the first part of the 8th.
