Colby Lewis And The History Books

Stay connected for news and updates

Thursday in Baltimore, Colby Lewis allowed five hits, all of which were homers. He also registered a dozen strikeouts. That’s weird.

No pitcher had ever before combined five dingers with 12 whiffs. Or 11 whiffs, or ten whiffs. On June 24, 1989, Charlie Hough allowed five dingers with nine whiffs.

Additionally, Lewis became the fifth pitcher ever to allow five hits and five homers. Earlier this year, Josh Beckett allowed seven hits and five homers, but Lewis has him beat.
