The Athletics placed center fielder Yoenis Cespedes on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hand.
Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday due to a strained left hand. The Athletics placed Cespedes on the DL retroactive to May 7 and recalled Michael Taylor from AAA to take Cespedes' spot on the major league roster.

The Cuban defector aggravated the injury during batting practice on Tuesday and has not played since. In his first season with the Athletics, he is batting .245 with five home runs and 21 RBI. His first stint in the MLB, Cespedes played in 28 games this season, starting in center field for Oakland.
Taylor has played in 15 MLB games in his career, including four games this season. In 23 games for AAA Sacramento this season, Taylor batted .347 with two home runs and 18 RBI.
