The seven-day restricted list is a relatively new rule that players can use when they have an urgent family matter to deal with. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter will miss at least a couple of games after going on the restricted list:
Torii Hunter has been placed on restricted list due to a personal matter. Ryan Langerhans will be called up.
The personal matter is often an ailing parent or grandparent, but in Hunter's case, it's for something a bit more shocking. From NBC Dallas, via Bill Shaikin:
Five Prosper High School students including the son of a major league baseball player were arrested Monday on charges related to a sexual assault, police said ...Two of those arrested are adults, 17-year-old Garrick White and 17-year-old Darius McClinton-Hunter. Both White and Hunter are both charged with sexual assault of a child, a 2nd-degree felony.
McClinton-Hunter is the son of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Torii Hunter.
There are a lot of things more important than baseball. This is certainly one of them.
