Ryan Doumit has been a jack-of-all-trades for the Minnesota Twins, playing 16 games at catcher, ten at DH, and six in the OF. He was also one of the few Twins who was hitting decently. Obviously the baseball gods were having none of that, and they ordered up a right-calf strain that led to this:

The #Twins have placed Ryan Doumit on DL (right calf strain), will recall OF Ben Revere.

Actually, it probably wasn't so much the baseball gods as it was Doumit being Doumit. The 31-year-old has been to the DL eight times in his career, with the last time being a 60-day stay for an ankle fracture.

Revere, 24, was the starting center fielder for over half the Twins game last year, hitting .267/.316/.333. The Twins' marketing department wanted to use ".267/.316/.333!" as their slogan this year, but they were talked out of it. He was hitting .330 with a .360 on-base percentage in triple-A (with a .340 slugging percentage).
